Okay, so I’m labeling this “Mexican” because it’s taco dip, BUT…it’s so non-legitimately Mexican it’s laughable. Either way it is delicious and has been a staple in my family for football parties and holiday family events. It’s easy and you can make it ahead of time which is so helpful around busy holidays and work schedules. You can also vary up the toppings to whatever you like. Below are just some ideas, make it your own! The total servings really varies depending on how many other side dishes or appetizers you are serving but our family of four plus a couple friends would eat a healthy portion (but not quite all of it) in one football game.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 taco seasoning packet
- 8 oz. sour cream
- 2+ c shredded cheddar
- 1 head iceberg lettuce
- 1-2 diced tomatoes
- Optional:
- black olives
- diced avocado
- diced jalapeno
- green onion
Directions
- Step 1
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet until totally cooked through. Do not drain.
- Step 2
- Sprinkle half of the taco seasoning packet into the beef and stir together thoroughly. Cool.
- Step 3
- Stir in the remaining half of the seasoning into the sour cream.
- Step 4
- Dice up the tomatoes and iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces that will fit on a tortilla chip.
- Step 5
- On a large serving platter (or 9×13 pan or two smaller dishes like dinner plates), spread the sour cream evenly across the bottom then top with the beef.
- Step 6
- Spread out the shredded cheddar over the beef (use as much as you like…2 cups…4 cups…mmmm cheese), then layer on the lettuce, then tomatoes, then finally top with any extra toppings you like.
- Step 7
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve with tortilla chips or Doritos.
- Step 8
- Tip: you can swap ground turkey for beef or eliminate meat all-together and use refried beans as your base.
